Kimmy Sullivan

(formerly Kimberly Georgeades)
Owner/stylist/confidant

(They/Them pronouns)

Kimmy grew up in Portland. They began their hairstyling career in 1985 at 18 after dropping out of Centennial High and being urged by “the man” to pick a direction in life and move forward. They attended Multnomah College of Hair Design having been inspired through visits to the beauty salon with their adored grandma Cleo Bell. Kimmy thrived in this environment which allowed their creative nature to grow. Kimmy worked at various salons throughout the Portland metro area over the years developing their skills: excelling in cutting (with shears, razor and clippers) styling (hot tools, braiding and up-dos) and color ( color weaving, fashion colors and color upkeep) etc. But just as important, they make great effort to make their guests feel comfortable, relaxed, and welcome.

As Kimmy grew as a person and came to know themselves better, they decided to apply their values and philosophy to a business of their own, where they would have control of those things. They were not interested in opening a typical, high energy, noisy, crowded salon. Kimmy opened their salon originally under the name of Dapper Earth in 2015 and proceeded to grow their space with character and warmth. Until 2021 Kimmy was working mostly alone, creating a one on one experience suited to their intent. They needed to move their salon after an exchange of ownership of the building in 2018. Since they had to make this change, along with changing their location, they decided to change their name to one more suited to their goofy personality, going with the cheesiest pun they could think of – Hairodactyl. Their values and philosophy are a huge part of Hairodactyl’s fun, inviting, and safe environment. Hairodactyl warmly invites all people regardless of race, color, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, and ability diversity.
